Biography

Born on September 13, 1923 in the village of Lebyazhye, Ranenburg district, Ryazan province, Dobrovsky district, Lipetsk region . In 1940 he graduated from the Zootechnical Veterinary College. He worked in the construction organization "Academstroy" in Moscow .

In October 1941, he was drafted into the Red Army by the Dobrovsky military commissariat. He was enrolled in the 796th Infantry Regiment of the 741st Infantry Division. Since July 6, 1942 at the forefront, as a machine gunner. Baptism of fire received in the battles for the city of Voronezh. He fought on the Kursk Bulge and in Belarus, participated in crossing the Dnieper River. It passed a penal battalion , was convicted of surviving, and the machine gun was broken. After being wounded and the hospital returned to the front. From September 1943 until the Victory, he fought as a scout in the 1956th anti-tank fighter regiment of the 40th separate anti-tank fighter brigade. Member of the CPSU / CPSU since 1945.

On July 22, 1944, in the area of ​​the city of Menkevets, Corporal Pokidov, as part of the capture group, participated in reconnaissance in battle. Covering the withdrawal of scouts with “languages”, he destroyed over 10 opponents from the captured machine gun, knocked out an armored personnel carrier.

By order of the commander of the 260th Infantry Division of August 24, 1944, Corporal Pokidov Alexander Pavlovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.

In early October 1944, along with artillerymen, crossed the Narev River near the city of Serock and took part in the battles for the expansion of the Narevsky bridgehead. During fights on the bridgehead from October 5 to 10, four-ford in ice water was transported from coast to coast, delivering ammunition and reports, restoring contact with the batteries. On October 7, he found a cluster of opponents in one of the trenches, and promptly caused fire, disrupting the impending attack. Opponents lost up to twenty soldiers.

By order of the troops of the 1st Belorussian Front of March 23, 1945, Corporal Pokidov Alexander Pavlovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.

On February 1, 1945, Senior Sergeant Pokidov, as part of a group of scouts, took the battle with the detachment of the enemy field gendarmerie. In this battle, he personally exterminated over 10 soldiers and burned the car. April 20-30, 1945 distinguished himself in street battles for the city of Berlin. He was wounded during the assault on the Reichstag .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 15, 1946, for the exceptional courage, courage and fearlessness shown in battles with enemy invaders, Senior Sergeant Pokidov Alexander Pavlovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree. He became the full holder of the Order of Glory.

After demobilization in May 1948 he returned to the village of Lebyazhye, then the Dobrovsky district of the Ryazan region . In 1954, the district was included in the newly formed Lipetsk region .

In 1957, Pokidov graduated from the All-Union Agricultural Institute and received the profession of livestock. He moved with his family to the district center - the village of Dobroe. For more than 25 years he worked as the chief livestock specialist of the agricultural department of the Dobrovsky district executive committee of the Lipetsk region . He died on June 27, 1991. He was buried at home, in the cemetery of Lebyazhye village.
