After winning the 1997 Miss USA beauty pageant, Brooke Lee won the Miss Universe 1997 title. As a result, the Miss USA title passed to 1st Miss Vice - Brandy Sherwood from Idaho . [2]
A beauty contest was held in the city of Shrifport , Louisiana. [3] The new venue was announced in August 1996. [3]
The host of the competition was George Hamilton and Marla Maples, who had been divorced from Donald Trump since 199. [one]
Shortly before the contest, it was announced that CBS had partnered with Donald Trump to become semi-owners of the Miss USA contest and related contests like Young Miss USA and Miss Universe . [four]
During the presence of the contest participants, more than sixty sponsors funded events that included dinners, receptions and cocktail parties. More than three hundred participants. [5] Participants spent more than forty-five hours in rehearsal prior to the pre-competition and final show. [6]
The first year in which the participants were allowed to choose one-piece or two-piece swimwear to enter the preliminary and final competitions.
