Biography
Elisha Tugushi was born on March 10, 1913 in the village of Akhaltsopeli (now the Lanchkhut municipality of Georgia ). After graduating from the agricultural technical school and two courses at the agricultural institute, he worked as an agricultural technician at the state farm . In 1935 - 1937 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1941, Tugushi was again drafted into the army. Since March 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. In the battles he was wounded four times [1] .
By January 1945, Senior Lieutenant Elisey Tugushi commanded a company of the 1133rd Infantry Regiment of the 339th Infantry Division of the 33rd Army of the 1st Byelorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the crossing of the Vistula and the Oder . On January 14 and April 16 - 18, 1945, the Tugushi company successfully acted, taking enemy positions and holding out until the main forces approached [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 31, 1945 for "exemplary performance of combat tasks of the command on the front of the fight against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown" The Star " No. 7449 [1] .
In 1947, Tugushi was dismissed. He lived and worked in the Georgian SSR . After graduating from the Kutaisi Agricultural Institute, he headed the state farm. He died on December 25, 1982, was buried in the city of Ozurgeti [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner and World War 2 nd degree, a number of medals [1] .
