Biography
Born on November 2, 1920 in the village of Old Tukshum (now - Shigonsky District, Samara Region ). Member of the CPSU / CPSU since 1944. Graduated 6 classes. He worked at the bakery in the city of Kuibyshev.
In the Red Army since 1940. On the front in the Great Patriotic War since November 1943. He fought on the 4th Ukrainian Front . As part of the 65th tank brigade of the 11th tank corps, he participated in the liberation of southern Ukraine. As an exemplary soldier, NF Shchekanov was sent to the school of sergeants, after which he freed the cities of Olevsk and Sarny, and participated in battles in the Kovel area.

By order of the 69th Army of March 8, 1945, Senior Sergeant Shchekanov was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.
Continuing the offensive, the troops of the 11th Tank Corps crossed the Oder and fought on the Kyustrin bridgehead . In the Berlin operation as part of the 8th Guards Army, they broke through the enemy defenses on the Seelow Heights and broke into Berlin.
On April 22, 1945, in a battle in the suburb of Berlin, Lichtenberg Schekanov with a squad destroyed seventeen enemy machine gunners seated in a house prepared for defense, and captured several opponents.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 15, 1946, for their courage, bravery and heroism shown in the struggle against the invaders, Senior Sergeant Shchekanov Nikolai Fedorovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree.
Participant in the Victory Parade on June 24, 1945 in Moscow on Red Square. In 1946, demobilized. He lived in the city of Samara . He worked at bakery number 8. He died on June 13, 2006.
He was awarded the Order of the October Revolution , World War 1 st degree, Glory 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd degree, medals.
The name of the full gentleman of the Order of Glory, N. F. Schekanov, is immortalized on a memorial sign in honor of the participants of the Great Patriotic War , who live in the Zheleznodorozhny district of the city of Samara .
