Biography

Born on September 19, 1927 in the village of Velikiy Bobrik, Krasnopolsky District, Sumy Region, in a peasant family. Ukrainian. In 1941 he graduated from high school in his native village.

In 1951, he began his career as a boring lathe at the Nasosenergomash plant in the city of Sumy. Without interruption from production, he graduated from Sumy Engineering College. He perfectly mastered his profession, and as one of the experienced borers he worked on the processing of particularly important pump housings, which were supplied to oil pipelines, thermal and nuclear power plants. Introducing progressive cutting tools into production, V.P. Smirnov reduced the processing time of parts by 3.2 times. Repeated winner of socialist competitions. He had a personal stigma of the technical control department, he was a mentor to youth, he taught 32 people how to turn.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 10, 1976, for outstanding achievements in fulfilling the tasks of the ninth five-year plan, excellent quality and high productivity, Smirnov Viktor Pavlovich was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal "Hammer and Sickle."

Until 1987, he continued to work as a boring lathe. In 1987-1992 he worked as a foreman at his native Nasosenergomash plant. He worked at the enterprise for more than 40 years. Since 1992 - retired.

He was elected a delegate to the XXVI Congress of the Communist Party of Ukraine. Member of the Sumy city council in 1969-1977.

He lived in the city of Sumy. He died on February 25, 1999. He was buried at the Luchansky cemetery in Sumy.

He was awarded 2 Orders of Lenin , the Order of the Badge of Honor, and medals.
