Biography
Born on August 29, 1911 in the village of Dubovitskoye (now Ternovsky District, Voronezh Region) in a peasant family. Russian. He graduated from 7 classes, worked in the village, in the mines of Donbass [2] .
Drafted to the Red Army in 1932. He graduated from junior lieutenant courses in 1938. Member of the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940 . Member of the CPSU (b) since 1939.
Since June 1941, he participated in the Great Patriotic War (Odessa Military District) in the defense of Odessa, Sevastopol, the Caucasus, in battles on the Dniester. Twice wounded and shell-shocked.
In October 1941, he was evacuated to Sevastopol together with units of a separate Primorsky Army, was wounded in the very first November battles, after being cured in January 1942, he was appointed commander of an artillery battery located on the southern slope of Sapun Mountain and defending the road to Sevastopol from the Balaklava Bay.
In June 1942, he was temporarily appointed to the place of the deceased commander of the artillery division, after 3 days he was seriously wounded and evacuated to the North Caucasus, after leaving the Sukhumi hospital in September 1942, Captain Sharov was appointed commander of the 24th separate fighter-anti-tank division of the 37th Army of the Transcaucasian Front.
He was especially distinguished during the winter offensive of the Soviet troops in 1943, when on 17 February 1943, with the division, he destroyed more than 10 tanks and a significant amount of manpower when repulsing an enemy counterattack near the village of Brinkovskaya ( Primorsko-Akhtarsky district of the Krasnodar Territory ). He died in this battle (captured and executed) and was buried in the village, where he is now named after the street and a bust was installed [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 21, 1943, for the exemplary performance of command missions on the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism shown to them, Major Sharov Ivan Alexandrovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union (posthumous).
He was awarded the Order of Lenin, two Orders of the Red Banner, the Order of the Red Star, and medals [3] .
