Biography

Born on August 26, 1912 in the resettlement village Egorovsky [1] . Education is incomplete secondary. In 1938 he moved to the Irkutsk region . He worked as a slaughterer in the mine of the Svetlovsky mine of the Lenzoloto trust in the Bodaibo district.

In September 1942, he was called up to the Red Army by the Bodaibo regional military enlistment office. The battle path began on the North-Western Front. Later he participated in the battles on the Kursk Bulge, took part in the liberation of the cities of Belgorod and Kharkov. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1944.

On January 28, 1944, near the village of Tishkovka (now the Dobrovelichkovsky district of the Kirovograd region ) of the Guard, Corporal Babich, as part of the squad, set mines in the path of the movement of enemy tanks, in which two heavy tanks were blown up.

By order of the commander of the 1st Guards Airborne Division of February 20, 1944, Corporal Andrei Fedorovich Babich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.

On the night of April 26, 1944, Junior Sergeant Babich carried out an engineering exploration of the Reut River near the village of Trebuzheny (now Orhei District , Moldova ) Babich crossed the river and secured the rope for the ferry on the opposite bank, ensuring the group’s actions when capturing an enemy officer.

By order of the 53rd Army on May 31, 1944, the guard Junior Sergeant Babich Andrey Fedorovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.

On the night of November 5, 1944, Guard Sergeant Babic, with a group of scouts on a boat, transported infantry troops to the right bank of the Tisza near the city of Timaolis [2] (Hungary), which captured the bridgehead. He was presented for awarding the Order of Glory of the 1st degree.

In one of the battles already on the territory of Czechoslovakia Guard Sergeant Babich was seriously injured and died on March 28, 1945. He was buried at the military cemetery in the village of Opatova, Levice district of the Nitran region of Slovakia.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 28, 1945, Sergeant Babich Andrei Fedorovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree for exemplary performance of command assignments in battles with guard invaders. He became the full holder of the Order of Glory.

He was also awarded medals.
