Biography

Born on May 13, 1904 in the village of Seferovka, Barsky district, Vinnitsa region . Ukrainian. He worked on a collective farm. In 1926-1928 he served in the Red Army . Returning home, he headed the post office.

In the first months of the war remained in the occupied territory. In October 1944 he was again drafted into the army. The entire battle path was part of the 838th Infantry Regiment of the 237th Infantry Division.

On October 8, 1944, in the area of ​​the village of Solonovets, 48 ​​km north-east of the city of Uzhgorod, Transcarpathian region of Ukraine, the company orderly junior sergeant Lyakhovsky provided first aid to 11 soldiers and officers under enemy fire and carried them out of the battlefield, including the seriously wounded commander companies.

By order of October 28, 1944, Junior Sergeant Lyakhovsky Pyotr Samoilovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.

At the final stage of the liberation of Transcarpathian Ukraine, when attacking the village of Veshkovtsy, the commander of the 2nd rifle platoon was killed during the attack. The orderly Lyakhovsky took command of the unit upon himself.

On November 22, 1944, in the battle for the village of Veshkovets, Junior Sergeant Lyakhovsky, commanding a rifle division, was among the first to break into the enemy’s location with his squad, hit 3 and captured 2 enemy soldiers. On November 28, near the village of Zemplin, crossing at night with fighters across the Bodrog River, he suddenly attacked the enemy, exterminated up to 10 opponents.

By order of January 4, 1945, Junior Sergeant Lyakhovsky Pyotr Samoilovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree for the troops of the 18th Army.

Shortly after forcing the Bodrog River, he became ill with bilateral lobar pneumonia. He categorically refused the hospital and spent more than a month in the medical battalion. After recovery, given the state of health, he was again appointed as a sanitary instructor.

On February 12-13, 1945, the regiment in which senior sergeant Lyakhovsky fought fought near the village of Yasenitsa, the village of Lazy, the city of Strumen. The regiment commander, introducing senior sergeant Lyakhovsky to be awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree, wrote: “... On February 12, 1945, while repulsing a fierce counterattack of the enemy in the area of ​​the village of Yasenitsa, he helped and carried out twelve seriously wounded fighters from the battlefield and officers. On February 13, in a battle for a house north of the settlement of Lazy, he neutralized in a difficult combat situation. zones of two officers and seven seriously wounded soldiers, having provided them with first aid. ”

In mid-April 1945, Lyakhovsky was seriously wounded, a medical operation was performed in the medical battalion, but one of the fragments remained in his chest. In the hospital in the rear, he learned that for the last battle he was awarded the Order of the Red Star . And later news came about the awarding of the Order of Glory of the 1st degree.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 29, 1945, for the exemplary performance of command assignments in battles with invaders at the final stage of the Great Patriotic War, senior sergeant Lyakhovsky Pyotr Samoilovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree. He became the full holder of the Order of Glory.

In 1945 he was demobilized. Having returned home, contrary to the advice of doctors, he was actively involved in public life. He was again appointed head of the post office, was elected a deputy of the village Council. He worked and lived in the village of Zhuravlevka, Barsky district. But soon a serious wound affected. After a long illness on May 8, 1954, Pyotr Samoilovich Lyakhovsky died. He was buried in the cemetery of the village of Seferovka.

He was awarded the orders of the Red Star , Glory of 3 degrees, medals.

Near the Seferovskaya incomplete secondary school, a monument was erected to fellow soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War . On one of the plaques, the name of the full holder of the Order of Glory of Peter Samoilovich Lyakhovsky is carved.
