The heroes of the film are people living on the edge of the mainland, in the Chukchi village of Enurmino. Among them, the local intellectual and philosopher Boris Gytgyrokhin, who works as an electrician, stands out. Boris is convinced that a hot spring is hiding in the Enurminsky land; if you drill, you can arrange greenhouses here.
The mayor of the village of Natalya is busy building a kindergarten under one roof. Talking over the phone with the district authorities, she delicately wonders if teachers and educators will be sent to Enurmino.
At Cape Natten, located near Enurmino, the family of Nikolai Rovtyn lives. Previously, a weather station was located there. But in the mid-1990s, the Northern Sea Route from Europe to Asia was empty, the station was closed, meteorologists left. Rovtyn with his wife and daughters occupied the vacant room. In the morning, the wife of Nikolai Yan feeds the puppies. Dog teams here are the only means of transport.
The population of Enurmino is 314 people, of which 310 are the indigenous inhabitants of Chukotka. There is no mining, no water supply and sewage, building materials and spare parts, industrial goods, coal, fuels and lubricants, vegetables, fruits, sour-milk products. Paramedic Raisa Nikolaevna Zaganshina arrived in Enurmino from the Amur Region . At first she lived in a tiny apartment with one chair and a bed. Raisu is worried about the frustration of local residents, the growth of suicide. She believes that here it is necessary to send a teacher-educator for adults.
Enurminsky hunters got walrus . By morning, it was turned into rolls - pieces of meat wrapped in walrus skins. These are winter reserves, they are stored underground - in a glacier dug 50 years ago. But in recent years, permafrost is melting, and the glacier has only a short time to live.
There is unemployment in the village, but Klim was lucky - he was taken to kindergarten by a stoker. It is necessary to heat all year round, because in Enurmino the average temperature in summer is +10 ˚С, in winter −20 ˚С.
| For two and a half months they shot their film, being in the extreme north-eastern point of Russia, on the coast of the Chukchi Sea . A small village from which you can get out only by miracle. <...> The prospects for life here are the most joyless ...Alexander Hort [1] |
