Biography
Born in 1914 in the city of Asha, Chelyabinsk region . Graduated from 5 classes. In 1936-1939, he served in the Red Army , a participant in the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940. After demobilization, he worked in the open-hearth workshop of the Ashinsky Metallurgical Plant.
In the spring of 1943 he was enlisted as a volunteer in the emerging Ural Tank Corps, commander of the T-34 tank’s guns of the 244th Chelyabinsk Tank Brigade. At the front since July 1943. As part of the Chelyabinsk tank brigade, he took part in the battles in the Oryol region, and then his crew was transferred to the 197th Sverdlovsk tank brigade. Member of the CPSU since 1944. He particularly distinguished himself in battles in Western Ukraine and Poland .
March 4, 1944 troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front began the Proskurov-Chernivtsi operation. The Ural Volunteer Tank Corps was introduced into the breakthrough. On the evening of March 5, the advance detachment of the brigade as part of the 1st tank battalion, in which Maslennikov’s crew was, broke into the village of Fridrikhovka, and on the night of March 6 approached the Volochisk station.
Shooting on the move at the enemy infantry and vehicles from a cannon and a machine gun, Maslennikov’s tank broke into the station. An enemy armored train approaching from the city of Ternopol, having received several direct hits, went back. In subsequent battles, reflecting the numerous counterattacks of the enemy’s tanks and infantry, Maslennikov’s tank was hit and burned. The guardsman managed to get out of the wrecked car and remove the machine gun from the tank. He continued the battle, destroying more than a dozen soldiers and officers of the enemy.
By order of the 10th Guards Tank Corps dated May 8, 1944, the Guard, Sergeant Maslennikov Pyotr Andreevich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.
In mid-July 1944, Ural tankers took part in the Lviv offensive operation. Maslennikov’s crew was again in the head camp outpost.
In the battles for the height of 349.0 and the village of Zhirovka Guard, Senior Sergeant Maslennikov destroyed one “tiger” and one “panther”, an anti-aircraft gun, four machine guns with machine gun calculations and up to fifty enemy soldiers and officers from his gun.
By order of the 4th Panzer Army on August 13, 1944, the Guard, Sergeant Maslennikov Pyotr Andreevich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.
On January 12, 1945, the troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front launched a new offensive. The Ural tank guardsmen again entered the breakthrough. On the night of January 13, Maslennikov’s tank, operating in reconnaissance, burst into Petrakovice and met with German intelligence on two armored personnel carriers. Enemy scouts were captured and delivered to the brigade headquarters.
January 15, 1945, reflecting the counterattacks of the enemy’s tanks and infantry in the area of the village of Petrakovice, the guard Sergeant Maslennikov “... showed valor and heroism, combining them with high military skill. With the fire of his tank cannon, one tank “tiger” and two tanks “panther” and about 40 enemy soldiers and officers destroyed. By his personal example of endurance, courage and skill he carried away the rest of the tankers to the feat. ” For the exploits shown in these battles, the guard foreman Maslennikov was presented for awarding the Order of Glory of the 1st degree.
Later he took part in the battles during the crossing of the Cerna Nida, Pilitsa and Warta rivers. He died in battle on March 25, 1945 in the area near the village of Krug. He was buried at the scene of the battle.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 10, 1945, for the courage, bravery and fearlessness shown in the battles of the Guard, foreman Maslennikov Pyotr Andreevich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree. He became the full holder of the Order of Glory.
He was awarded the Order of Glory of 3 degrees.
