Biography

Born on December 10, 1919 in a peasant family in the village of Korotikha, Cheganovskoye rural settlement, Zavolzhsky District, Ivanovo Region . After a seven-year school in the direction of the collective farm, he graduated from tractor courses.

In 1939 he was drafted into the Red Army . Member of World War II and the war with Japan. In 1946 he was demobilized and returned to his homeland.

He returned to the pre-war profession, began to work as a foreman of the tractor brigade in the Zavolzhsky MTS. In 1947, a record rye crop of 170.06 centners per hectare was harvested on the collective farm named after the 17th Party Congress, serviced by the tractor brigade of the Zavolzhsky MTS.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 12, 1949, for receiving high yields of rye in 1948, Smirnov Anatoly Mikhailovich was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal "Hammer and Sickle."

By the same Decree, the high rank was awarded to the tractor driver of the Zavolzhsky MTS working in the fields of the collective farm named after the 17th Party Congress Zaitsev Dmitry Mikhailovich.

He headed the tractor brigade until 1955. In the same year he graduated from the Ivanovo Agricultural School for the training of leading cadres and received a diploma in agriculture. He began to work as deputy chairman of the collective farm, and then chairman of the executive committee of the Cheganovskiy village council, director of the procurement office of the Zavolzhsky district. In recent years, he worked at the Zavolzhsky Knitting Factory as the head of the fuel and transport department.

He lived in the village of Cheganovo. He died on May 5, 2002. He was buried at the Cheganovskoye rural cemetery.
