Biography
Born November 26, 1924 in the city of Saransk, the capital of the Republic of Mordovia . Graduated from 6 classes. He worked as a mechanic at a mechanical plant.
In November 1942, as a volunteer, he went to the Red Army through the Saransk city military enlistment office. He graduated from intelligence courses. At the front since May 1943. The entire battle path was part of the 59th separate guards reconnaissance company of the 57th guards rifle division. He fought on the South-West, 3rd Ukrainian and 1st Belorussian fronts.
On November 6, 1943, to the south-west of the Mashinovoy Guard farm, Junior Sergeant Shelimov, as part of an assault group, seized the heights, taking the opponents to flight. He was wounded, but did not leave the battlefield.
By order of parts of the 27th Guards Rifle Division on December 25, 1943, the Guard Junior Sergeant Valentin Sergeyevich Shelimov was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.
In August 1944, in the area north-east of the settlement of Mikhalovka, Junior Sergeant Shelimov, systematically penetrating the rear of the enemy, supplied the command of the division with valuable intelligence.
By order of the troops of the 8th Guards Army dated September 29, 1944, the Guard Junior Sergeant Valentin Sergeyevich Shelimov was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.
On the night of August 25, 1944, in the area 13 km north-west of the city of Kozienice, Junior Sergeant Szelimov destroyed about 10 soldiers, detonated a bunker, burst into the headquarters of the enemy battalion, captured and delivered the enemy operational documents to the command. In one of the following intelligence outputs, he captured and delivered a valuable “language”. He returned from the whole group alone, with a severe wound was sent to the rear.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated March 24, 1945, Junior Sergeant Valentin Sergeyevich Shelimov was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree for exceptional courage, courage and fearlessness in battles with enemy invaders. He became the full holder of the Order of Glory.
He was treated in a hospital in the city of Leningrad. Having strengthened, he fled from the hospital, caught up with his regiment. Participated in the storming of Berlin. Among many others on the wall of the Reichstag there was also an inscription made by a soldier from Saransk Valentin Shelimov.
In the fall of 1945 he was demobilized. He returned to his homeland. He worked as a metalworker at the Saransk Mechanical Plant. Member of the CPSU / CPSU since 1949. He lived in the city of Saransk. He died on November 26, 1991.
He was awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, Glories of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd degrees, medals.
In May 2010, by decision of the Saransk city administration, a memorial plaque was installed on the house in which the full holder of the Order of Glory Valentin Sergeyevich Shelimov lived.
