It is written in PHP using the MySQL DBMS (the latest versions (6.5 and later) also support connections to databases such as PostgreSQL , Microsoft SQL Server , MS Access , Oracle , DB2 , SQLite ). This feature appeared after connecting the popular phpBB forum to php-Nuke as a module.
The system provides administration pages for managing site functions, appearance and delimitation of access rights. CMS has a modular structure. The set of modules and their settings are indicated on the administration pages. The standard set of modules includes: news feed, forum, articles, news for a handheld computer , survey, statistics. The system also has flexible configuration of modules for users of certain groups. A distinctive feature of PHP-Nuke are blocks. Ease of use allows you to create and connect a block in several movements. Blocks can be interchanged, set the time of the block, the refresh rate.
An important advantage of the system is the large number of available modules created by third-party developers for the long time that PHP-Nuke has existed.
Branches
PHP-Nuke, one way or another, served as the basis for a number of individual projects. Some of them no longer have the PHP-Nuke source code and are replaced by the project’s own development. Some of them as a result of the next branch gave rise to new projects, or were renamed and exist under new names.
If you pay attention to the most popular systems that are based on PHP-Nuke, you can see that they completely or almost completely changed the basic functions. This suggests that the PHP-Nuke system itself needs to be optimized and modified. Some systems are engaged in building or changing functions, not paying attention to the speed of work and the load on the server.
