Description
Small leaf beetles (about 4 mm) with an elongated body. The main color is brown-black (head, pronotum and antennae black). Antennae 11-segmented, filiform; mouth parts not protruding forward; elytra parallel; the body is not cylindrical; apical margins of pronotum truncated or slightly rounded in the middle part; elytra base without keel; the last three abdominal sternitis are not hairy; legs are short. They feed on the leaves of plants. First described in 2014 by American coleopterologist Charles L. Staines (Department of Entomology, National Museum of Natural History , Smithsonian Institution , Washington , USA ) and Mexican entomologist Carlos García-Robledo ; Departamento de Interacciones Multitó Instituto de Ecología, Jalapa Enriques , Veracruz , Mexico ). The specific name comes from the Latin word Brevis (short, narrow) [1] .
