Sukhachev, Nikolai Leonidovich

Born November 15, 1942 in the village. Bogdana Teleormansky County, Romania, in the family of employees who came from a peasant environment with Slavic, Romanesque and Turkic roots. In 1944, the family returned to the USSR in the hometown of the father Bolgrad, and since 1947 began to live in the city of Reni, Izmail region. ^[2]

In 1949 - 1959, he studied at the secondary school in Reni, after which he moved to Chisinau, where he worked as a builder, as well as at the vineyard state farm in Reni district. ^[2]

In 1960 he entered the Faculty of Philology of Leningrad State University named after A. Zhdanov , who graduated in 1965 from the Romanian department of the Department of Romance Philology. ^[2]

In 1965–1974, he served in the Soyuzvneshtrans representation in the Sea Trade Port, and then as a translator, patent specialist , technical literature editor in the information departments of several production and research and design organizations in Leningrad. ^[2]

In his free time, he studied Russian-French cultural relations in the library, the study of which attracted him to A. A. Tunimanov . In 1969, M. A. Borodin attracted him to work on the publication of the archival manuscript of V. F. Shishmarev, “Romanesque settlements in the south of Russia”, as well as to study linguistic and geographic topics. ^[2]

In 1974 - 1977, he studied in the graduate school of the Institute of Linguistics of the USSR Academy of Sciences , where in December 1978, under the scientific guidance of Academician GV Stepanov, he defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Philology on the theme “On the Problem of Language Variability (in Romans)”. ^[2]

From December 1977 - Junior Researcher , then - Senior Researcher of the Department of the Study of Indo-European Languages ​​and Areal Studies of the Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Linguistics of the USSR Academy of Sciences / Institute of Linguistic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences . In 1981 - 1992 - Acting Scientific Secretary of the department. ^[2]

Participated in the organization and publication of materials of the II — V All-Union Conferences on Areal Studies in Linguistics and Ethnography (1971-1985), made presentations at conferences, seminars, readings organized by the OR of RAS, the Institute of Nuclear Physics, St. Petersburg State University, at the IV Conference of the International Society for the Study Shamanism ( Chantilly , 1997), VIII International Congress on the Study of Southeastern Europe ( Bucharest , 1999), Interdisciplinary International Conference “Siberia: Earth and People” ( Leeds , 2003). He took part in archaeological expeditions in the territory of south-western and eastern Turkmenistan (1984-1995), in linguistic expeditions to the Udegei regions in the Khabarovsk and Primorye territories (2000, 2003).

He translated poetry and prose from the ancient Irish, Catalan , Romanian , French languages ^[3] . In 1995, translations of the Cantigues of 8 troubadours of the Iberian Peninsula from the Galician-Portuguese language were published, including one song of the 13th century Castilian poet Pero García Burgales .
