Biography

Born on April 18, 1916 in the village of Fonovka (now Petrovsky District, Tambov Region ). He worked on the collective farm, since 1940 - at a factory in Moscow . In November 1941, the plant was evacuated to the city of Kambark, Udmurtia .

In the Red Army from 1937 to 1940 and from 1942. In the battles of World War II from November 1942. He fought on the Kalinin and the 1st Baltic fronts. Especially distinguished during the fighting for the liberation of Belarus and Lithuania.

The commander of the motorized rifle-machine-gun battalion of the 10th Separate Guards Tank Brigade of the Guard, Senior Sergeant Surkov in June 1944, with the liquidation of the enemy's surrounded grouping near the village of Verkhovye on the armor of the tank with subordinates, broke into the enemy’s location. A detachment of fire from a machine gun and in melee destroyed about 20 enemies, several enemy soldiers captured, captured several guns and mortars. On July 7, 1944, for the courage shown in battles with the enemy, the guard sergeant Surkov was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.

At the beginning of October 1944, Surkov headed a branch in the area of ​​the city of Gargzhdai made his way to the Miniya River and, having destroyed two enemy machine-gun calculations, covered the company’s exit to the river with fire. October 10, 1944 in the battle on the banks of the river first burst into the trench of the enemy, destroyed more than ten infantrymen. By repelling the enemy's counterattacks, he replaced the machine gun that had been destroyed by the gunner.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated March 24, 1945, for courage, bravery and heroism, Guards, Senior Sergeant Surkov Egor Grigorievich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree.

In 1947, demobilized. He returned to his native village. Worked on the collective farm "Dawn". He lived in the village of Petrovskoe.

He was awarded the Order of Glory 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree, World War 1 st degree, medals.
