Yellow Sternbergia [2] ( lat. Sternbergia lutea ) is a species of monocotyledonous plants of the genus Sternbergia ( Sternbergia ) of the Amaryllidaceae family . Under the current taxonomic name, the species was described by British botanist John Bellenden Ker Goler in 1825 [3] .

The homeland of the plant is the Mediterranean [4] . The exact boundaries of the range are unknown; found in the north of Algeria , in Iran , Iraq , Israel , Lebanon , Syria , Turkey , Azerbaijan , Turkmenistan , Albania , Greece , Italy , in the south of France and in Spain [5] . It is brought in the USA [6] .

Included in the Red Books of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, as well as Uzbekistan and the Republic of Dagestan [2] (although the species is not found in the last two regions).
