Biography
Arsen Ter-Oganov was born on November 28, 1924 in Baku into an Armenian family. He graduated from high school. In 1941, Ter-Oganov was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War [1] .
By January 1945, the guard sergeant Arsen Ter-Oganov commanded the machine-gun design of the 288th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 94th Guards Rifle Division of the 5th Shock Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . Distinguished during the liberation of Poland . On January 14, 1945, Ter-Oganov’s calculation was one of the first to cross the Pilica near the village of Mihalów Dolny and took an active part in the battles for the seizure and retention of a bridgehead on its western bank, reflecting six German counterattacks [1] .
By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated February 27, 1945, the guard foreman Arsen Ter-Oganov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
After the end of the war, Ter-Oganov was demobilized. Returned to Baku. After graduating from the Baku Industrial Institute in 1952, he worked on the repair of oil-producing machines. Later he entered the service of the KGB of the USSR. In 1981 he retired [1] . He lived in Baku, in 1990 he went to Moscow. He died on December 12, 1998, and was buried at Troekurovsky cemetery [2] .
He was also awarded two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree (05.24.1945, 11.03.1985) and a number of medals [1] .
