Biography
Philip Terekhov was born in 1923 in the village of Novokytmanovo (now the Kytmanovsky district of the Altai Territory ). After graduating from six grades of school, he worked on a collective farm . In 1941, Terekhov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since July 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He was wounded twice in battles [1] .
By September 1943, Lieutenant Philip Terekhov commanded a mortar platoon of the 385th Infantry Regiment of the 112th Infantry Division of the 24th Infantry Corps of the 60th Army of the Voronezh Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper . On September 24, 1943, a platoon of Terekhov crossed the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Yasnogorodka, Vyshgorod district, Kiev region of the Ukrainian SSR, and took an active part in the battles for the capture and retention of the bridgehead on its western shore. On October 2–3, 1943, platoon gunners destroyed 2 machine-gun points and near a platoon of German infantry [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR of October 17, 1943, for “successfully crossing the Dnieper River north of Kiev, firmly securing the bridgehead on the western bank of the Dnieper River and showing courage and heroism”, Lieutenant Philip Terekhov was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and Gold Star medals [1] .
December 10, 1943 Terekhov died in battle. He was buried in a mass grave in the village of Graby, Korosten district, Zhytomyr region of Ukraine [1] .
In Kytmanovo, at the memorial of the Great Patriotic War, a bust of Terekhov Filipp Filippovich was installed [1] .
