Ivan Fyodorovich Vensovich ( January 1 ( 12 ), 1769 - February 11 ( 23 ), 1811 ) is an ordinary professor and dean of the medical faculty of Moscow University , court counselor [1] .

Biography
He was born in the family of a priest in the Kalach settlement of the Pavlovsky district of the Voronezh province (now the city of Kalach ). Primary education in Kharkov College . In 1783 he entered the gymnasium of the Moscow University ; In 1787 he became a student of the Faculty of Philosophy, from where he moved to the Faculty of Law in 1788 and graduated with a gold medal in 1791. In 1793-1798 he studied at the medical faculty and graduated from the course, receiving a degree in medicine.
In the years 1797-1799 he practiced at the Moscow Military Hospital. From 1801 he served at the Grading Institute of the Moscow Educational House . In 1803, having defended his thesis “De structura et usu secundinarum” for the degree of doctor of medicine [2] , he began to read lectures on dietetics and general medicine at Moscow University. In 1804, he was elected adjunct, and in 1805, after the departure of F. F. Keresturi , he occupied the department of anatomy, physiology, and forensic medicine as an extraordinary professor (since 1808, ordinary).
He also conducted administrative work: from 1805 he was an inspector of students at the medical department and secretary of the medical faculty, in 1809 he was elected his dean.
A member of the MOIP (from December 1805) and the Physico-Medical Society , in the latter also served as secretary and edited Russia's first medical journal, Proceedings of the Society for the Competition of Medical and Physical Sciences at Moscow University.
He died of consumption.
Vensovich became famous for his smallpox vaccination campaign. In his speech “A Word about the Benefits of Physical Anthropology” (1805), he proved himself a supporter of the idea of the determination of the physiological and mental functions of a person by external conditions; in particular, the question of human health was raised by him depending on social problems, the nature of food, life, working conditions, etc.
