Biography

Born on January 16, 1913 in the city of Bender, Bessarabian province, the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, in the family of a farm laborer. Moldavian.

From the age of fourteen, he began to work as an apprentice fitter Bendery railway workshops, while studying at a craft school. Due to the closure of the Bender railway workshops by the Romanian occupation authorities in 1931, he was transferred to the workshops of the city of Iasi. In July 1941, together with the retreating Soviet troops, he went to the Rostov Region , where he worked as a digger in a bridge-building brigade, then was wounded by a locksmith in a railroad depot in Rostov-on-Don. After his release, Bender returned to his hometown.

Since 1944 he worked as a fitter of the Bender locomotive depot named after G.I. Stary. Since 1951, a member of the CPSU . He was repeatedly elected secretary of the party organization of the workshop. In 1962 he mastered the repair of diesel locomotives. He achieved high performance in the performance of production tasks. The author of a number of valuable rationalization proposals.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 4, 1971, Zmeu Pavel Georgievich was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal "Hammer and Sickle" for outstanding achievements in fulfilling the tasks of the five-year transportation plan and improving the efficiency of using technical means of railway transport.

He lived in the city of Benedera. He died on January 26, 1987, was buried in the Central Cemetery of the same city.
