Biography

Pavel Tezikov was born on September 10, 1905 in the village of Yurino (now Mari El ). After elementary school he worked as a locksmith. In 1942, Tezikov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since June of the same year - on the fronts of World War II [1] .

By January 1944, Sergeant Pavel Tezikov commanded the communications department of the 1147th Infantry Regiment of the 353rd Infantry Division of the 46th Army of the 3rd Ukrainian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of the Dnepropetrovsk region of the Ukrainian SSR . On January 1, 1944, Tezikov maintained contact between the units that held the defense at a height near the village of Nazarovka in the Sofievsky District , promptly repairing cable damage, and personally participated in repelling eight German counterattacks. When only three people were left in the ranks of all the defenders of the height ( Gredin , Tezikov and Slesarenko), Tezikov and Gredin caused artillery fire on themselves, thereby managing to maintain the height. February 2, 1944 Pavel Tezikov died in battle [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 19, 1944, Sergeant Pavel Tezikov was posthumously awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also posthumously awarded the Order of Lenin [2] .

He was also awarded a number of medals, including the medal "For Military Merit" [3] [1] .

A street was named in honor of Tezikov and a bust was installed in Yurino [1] .

Memory

  • A memorial plaque in memory of Tezikov was erected by the Russian Military Historical Society on the building of the Yurinsky secondary school of the Yurinsky district, where he studied.
