He developed original methods for treating brush injuries, for which 13 copyright certificates and patents and 65 certificates for rationalization proposals were received. The author of more than 260 printed works, including monographs. He was a member of the editorial boards of the journals Traumatology and Orthopedics, Bulletin of Traumatology and Orthopedics named after N. N. Priorov, Annals of Traumatology and Orthopedics, and Nizhny Novgorod Medical Journal.

Biography

Born May 28, 1937 in the city of Gorky, now Nizhny Novgorod. Father - Vladimir V. Azolov (1904-1964), mother - Lina Balakhonova Evstafyevna (1902-1989).

Education

In 1961 he graduated from the Gorky Medical Institute , after which he worked as a surgeon at the Solomensky City Hospital of the Karelian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic . In 1963 he entered the graduate school of the Gorky Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics, after which in 1966 he was appointed junior research fellow of the maxillofacial surgery department of this institute.

In 1966, under the guidance of a plastic surgeon, Professor B.V. Parin, he completed and defended his dissertation on the topic “Clinical and Anatomical Substantiation of Rational Methods of Metacarpal Bones Phalangization”.

In 1977 he defended his doctoral dissertation "Reconstructive surgery for the loss of fingers and some socio-economic aspects of this problem."

Activities

From 1968 to 1978, Azolov headed the clinic of maxillofacial and plastic surgery, from 1978 to 1984 - the clinic of hand surgery and microsurgery of Gorkovsky (now Nizhny Novgorod) NIIITO. From 1985 to 1993, he headed the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics with a course of VPH of the Gorky Medical Institute. Since 1984 - Director of the Nizhny Novgorod Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics.

V.V. Azolov was the chief traumatologist of the Volga Federal District (2003), the chairman of the board of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Association of Traumatologists and Orthopedists of Russia (1984), a member of the board of the Russian Association of Traumatologists and Orthopedists (1985), a full member of the Russian Engineering Academy (1995), a member of the International Society of Surgical Orthopedics (1990), New York Academy of Sciences (1997), Interdisciplinary Commission on the formation of the system of public health management of the Russian Federation (2001).
