Biography
Born March 2, 1923 in the city of Kaluga. Member of the CPSU / CPSU since 1943. He graduated from 7 classes, in 1940 - an aero club, in 1941 - 2 courses of a building technical school. He worked as a milling machine operator at a tank factory in the city of Sverdlovsk.
In the Red Army since 1942. He studied at the school of aircraft, but in connection with the dissolution of the school, he was sent to the front. In the army since March 1943. He fought as part of the Voronezh, Steppe, 2nd and 3rd Ukrainian fronts. Participated in the Belgorod-Kharkov operation, forced the Dnieper, Dniester, Tisu, liberated Ukraine, Romania, Hungary , Austria. He was a castle, gunner, calculation commander.
The calculation commander of the 76-millimeter gun of the 206th Guards Rifle Regiment of the Guard, Junior Sergeant Petrov, led the calculation on March 6, 1944, when breaking through the enemy’s heavily fortified defense in the vicinity of the village of Olkhovets, he suppressed five firing points, two guns, and destroyed over the enemy infantry squad.
On March 14, 1944, when crossing the Southern Bug River south of the village of Salkovo, he destroyed a large number of opponents.
By order of the commander of the 69th Guards Rifle Division of June 12, 1944, Junior Sergeant Petrov was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree for the courage shown in battles with the enemy.
Guard Sergeant Petrov with the calculation in the same regiment, division, and army December 18, 1944 in a battle on the outskirts of the village of Polgardi with artillery fire disabled three machine guns, knocked out two vehicles with ammunition.
By order of the 4th Guards Army of February 7, 1945, Sergeant Petrov was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.
In battles on the alpine hill on the way to the city of Vienna, operating with advanced rifle units, he destroyed several bunkers, machine-gun points and more than twenty enemy soldiers and officers.
Participating in the battles for the city of Vienna, Petrov’s gun crew for the period from April 5 to 13, 1945, direct fire suppressed six enemy firing points, destroyed and dispersed more than a platoon of enemy infantry than helped to advance our rifle units. In one of the battles he was seriously wounded.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 15, 1946, Sergeant Petrov Vladimir Andreevich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree for courage, courage and heroism, of the guard.
In 1948, senior technician-lieutenant Petrov was transferred to the reserve. He returned to his hometown. He worked as a senior aircraft technician at the Kaluga airport, since 1963 - photojournalist of the Kaluga newspaper Znamya.
He died on April 28, 1980.
