Geographical position
The district borders on the north with the Chortkovsky district of the Ternopil region , in the south with the Zastavnovsky and Khotinsky districts of the Chernivtsi region , in the west with the Zaleshchytsky district of the Ternopil region, in the east with the Chemerovetsky and Kamenetz-Podolsky districts of the Khmelnytsky region .
Area 1006 km² (3rd among districts).
The main rivers are the Dniester , Dzvina , Drapanka , Zbruch , Mlinka , Nichlava , Olkhovets , Olkhovy Potok , Seret , Khromovaya , Gypsy .
History
The district was founded in 1940 .

- The Paleolithic settlement ( Verteba cave), whose mitochondrial haplogroup U5a1a was found in an inhabitant of the Bronze Age [5] , mitochondrial haplogroups pre-HV , HV or V (2 samples), H (2 samples) were found in seven individuals of the Tripoli culture , J and T4 [6] . Four Y-chromosome haplogroups G2a (three carriers G2a2b2a and one G2a) were identified in four Trypillians from Verteba cave, and one Y-chromosome haplogroup E was identified [7] .
Famous People
She was born in the village of Belovtsy, and Dolinyuk was buried in the village of Boryshkovtsy , Evgenia Alekseevna - twice Hero of Socialist Labor .
