Biography
Kaisa was born and raised in Calgary . Her paternal grandfather is from the Norwegian city of Fagernes, [7] [11] [12] [13] [14] her last name Ellestad is also Norwegian .
The girl took part in the Young Canadians and performed tap dance and jazz dances , and also performed in the theater. In addition, Kaisa tried herself as a ballerina. However, a knee injury at the age of 15 ended her ballet career. [2] [15] The singer said that when she was 18 years old, the divorce of her parents forced her to write her first song, as a way of expressing her feelings. In the same year, she heard that her song was played on the radio.
At the age of 16, together with her brother, she managed to enter the reserve of the Royal Naval Forces of Canada, where she managed huge sailing ships in various parts of our planet. She believes that traveling, you can not only learn how to feel and understand music, but also better experience the feelings that it expresses. In addition, communication with local residents will only benefit. And due to the fact that she had a good command of shooting skills, she was offered to become a sniper, to which Kayza answered negatively.
In 2010 (then the girl was already twenty-one years old), Kaisa came to New York to continue her musical career. At first she established herself as a folk singer, but a little later she began to move to sharper rhythms. In the same year, she was invited to take part at Canada Day on Trafalgar Square in London, where more than thirty thousand spectators gathered, eager to hear their favorite artists. No one could even imagine how enormous success awaited her.
In 2012, Kiesza began an active collaboration with Rami Samir Afuni, and soon, after an hour and a half, released his debut song called “Oops”.
2014 is the most eventful year for her. First, her first video for one of the Hideaway singles comes out. As the singer herself says in an interview on Europa Plus radio: “During one of the rehearsals, something didn’t work out, and the guy who lifted me ... well, inadvertently lifted me, and I broke a rib. Everything was fine at first. and we shot the video, but then the rib began to hurt, and for about a month I could not move. " However, this did not greatly affect the audience, and soon this song takes first place in the British rating. Secondly, the second single “Kiesza Giant in my heart” was presented, only this summer. And finally, Kiesza has become the face of the fashionable Color Block glasses series. Moreover, she herself plans to launch her own personal brand.
