Biography
Nikolai Bulgakov was born in 1867; in 1889 he graduated from St. Petersburg University .
Since 1904 - Doctor of Physics, in 1893-1901. - Lecturer in St. Petersburg Theological Seminary , in 1899-1903. - Teacher of women’s pedagogical courses, since 1898 - lecturer at the Technological Institute , since 1897 - privat-docent of St. Petersburg University, since 1901 - professor of higher women’s courses. Since 1911 - an extraordinary professor at the university.
Works on electromagnetic oscillations and the propagation of alternating electric current, electrification and electric capacity of the ring, on the vibrator of A. S. Popov , magnetization of the ring, ellipsoid and elliptical layer. Together with N. A. Smirnov, he measured the electric capacity of the ring and developed a method for determining self-induction using a tuning fork . He studied mutual induction, terrestrial magnetism, the nature of the electron .
