Description

The nature monument is a natural complex of terraced landslides on the slopes of the chalk hills on the right bank of the Volga . Landslide terraces form steps with a total relative height difference of about 100 meters. The maximum height reaches about 155 meters above sea level. An outcrop of maternal Cretaceous rocks is observed.

Most of the territory is occupied by rocky steppes on the steep southern and southeastern terraced hillsides. At the foot of the hills, on the plakors , as well as in the retreat , there are forb -grass steppes. In the ravines there is meadow-steppe vegetation. On the northern slopes of the growing groups and individual representatives of birch hanging . A watershed is occupied by planting pine .

For the first time, the territorial protection regime was established on December 12, 1977 by the decision of the Shigonsky district executive committee, since then confirmed by the decision of the Kuibyshev regional executive committee dated November 3, 1987 No. 386, later the status was reaffirmed by a resolution of the government of the Samara region dated September 13, 2013.

The full sections of the Campanian and Albian tiers of the Cretaceous system are of stratigraphic and paleontological value, and the Maastricht and Santonian tiers of the same system are also present.

Rocky steppe

On the territory of the natural monument there are many rare species included in the Red Book of the Samara Region . They are representatives of flora: kopeechniky krupnotsvetkovy , Gmelin and Razumovsky , onosma Volga, Istetskaya scabiose , rough grind , Astrogalus hornoplodny , Zingerra , Gelma , Astragalus Henning , Curly shrub , Gypsy hawk , Thorny-horny hare , Austericusususususususususususaususususausususausausausausausausausausausausausausausausausausausausausausausausausausausausausa , Curly Shrub , Squamous Gentian , Thorny-Afferent , Curly-hawk Thyme Dubyansky , stiff-leaved tonkonog , dark red dremlik , Lensky borachok . In total, more than 200 species of higher plants grow on the territory of protected areas.

 
Valley at the foot of the hills

And representatives of the fauna: a bumblebee is plate-toothed , an Armenian bumblebee , a carpenter bee , a steppe , a white-tailed eagle , an ordinary mantispe , an owl. On the territory there is the largest in the right-bank part of the Samara region colony of baiba marmot.

In the bay of the Kuibyshev reservoir at the foot of the hills is the only location in the area of ​​the bog plant .

Study

The Cretaceous deposits on the territory of the monument became the subject of study of several expeditions, in particular, the Museum of the Institute of Ecology of the Volga Basin of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2011, and the Museum of the State Architectural and Architectural Information System in 2013.

The vegetation cover was also studied, for example, by employees of the regional museum named after P. Alabin [1] .

Security Mode

On the territory of the monument of nature, no agrotechnical and forestry work related to the violation of the integrity of the soil is allowed; the operation and construction of buildings and structures, the construction of main and temporary roads, power lines, landfills, waste disposal are prohibited.

It is also unacceptable to graze small cattle, amateur and sports hunting, exploration and mining of mineral resources, the use of toxic chemicals for the protection and preservation of forests and agricultural land, the movement of vehicles outside roads.

Allowed, subject to non-harm to natural complexes, free visits by citizens, the collection of medicinal plants for personal use.
