Description
The coat of arms of Adjara is a shield crossed by a wave. The upper part of the shield depicts the golden fortress of Gonio on a green field and at the bottom there are three gold coins on a blue field. In the center is the shield of the Small Coat of Arms of Georgia without a crown, depicting a silver figure of St. George with a golden halo on a silver horse, hitting the dragon with a spear.
The emblem is based on the emblem of the Batumi region in 1881 (“The shield is crossed by a wave-shaped scarlet and silver with three Byzantine gold coins, 2 and 1”).
History
Held from January 10 to 14, 1922, the First Congress of Soviets of the Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of Adjaristan adopted its first Constitution (Basic Law). On the A.A. Luksha archive (Riga, Latvia), a stamp of the Central Executive Committee of the Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of Ajaristan on the 1922 document, the central part of the coat of arms of the Georgian SSR (without ornament) is supplemented with a crescent image.
In the Constitution of the Adjarian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic adopted on October 25, 1937, the All-Jajar Congress of Soviets described the emblem of the republic in article 111:
The state emblem of the Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of Adjara is the state emblem of the Georgian SSR, which consists of a round red field, in the upper part of which is a luminous five-pointed star with rays extending across the field, below - a snowy ridge of blue color; on the right side are golden ears of corn and on the left are golden vines with vines. The ends of ears and vines are intertwined at the base of the ridge in the lower part of the field. Most of the middle is occupied by images of the golden sickle and hammer, which abut: at the top - a luminous star, below - at the top of the ridge, and on the sides - in ears and vines. Around the field there is an inscription in Georgian and Russian: "Workers of all countries, unite!" and “Georgian SSR”, with the addition of the inscription “Adjarian ASSR” in Georgian and Russian under the inscription “Georgian SSR” in smaller letters. The coat of arms is framed around with a pattern of Georgian-style ornaments
On June 26, 2000, the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara approved its emblem, consisting of a blue circle depicting a golden eagle with spread wings, between which, in the upper part of the circle, seven golden seven-pointed stars are located on an imaginary circular arc. On the outer blue ring there is an inscription in gold letters in Georgian “Adjara Autonomous Republic of Georgia” in gold on the top, two gold olive branches on the bottom. The mountain eagle is a symbol of freedom, reason, power and constant vigilance. A reliable guardian of the country, with a confident and sharp gaze, he proudly looks into the endless space, with outstretched powerful wings - a symbol of eternity and universal rebirth - holds the life-giving sun, and olive branches - a symbol of peace.
