Sergey Alekseevich Chemerov ( September 29, 1972 , Tver ) - a Russian canoe rower , played for the Russian team in the 1990s - 2000s. Biography
Sergey Chemerov was born on September 29, 1972 in Tver . He began to actively engage in canoeing in early childhood, was trained at the Tver Specialized Children and Youth Sports School of the Olympic Reserve named after Antonina Seredina.
The first serious success was achieved in the 1993 season, when he became the champion of Russia among two canoes at a distance of 500 meters. Thanks to a series of successful performances, he joined the main team of the Russian national team and was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the World Cup in Copenhagen. With a four-seater crew, which also included rowers Andrei Kabanov , Pavel Konovalov and Alexander Kostoglod , won silver medals in kilometer and half kilometer disciplines, in both cases losing leadership only to the Hungarian team. A year later, at the All-Russian Championship, he achieved the champion title in five disciplines at once, after which he went with the same crew to the World Championship in Mexico City, where he won gold, ahead of all his rivals two hundred meters.
Subsequently, Chemerov for many years remained in the Russian team and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, at the 1997 World Championships in Canadian Dartmouth, together with Andrei Kabanov, Alexander Kostoglod and Vladislav Polzunov, he received a bronze award in the 500-meter race. The last time showed a significant result in canoeing in the 2002 season, having won the Russian championship among fours at a kilometer distance and thus becoming the fourteen-time national champion. For outstanding sports achievements he was awarded the honorary title " Master of Sports of Russia of the international class ."
After completing his career in canoeing, he decided to try himself in rowing in " dragon " class boats - he also achieved considerable achievements in this sport, in particular, in the period 2000-2005 he won the European and World Championships several times. After leaving professional sports, he regularly participates in various veteran rowing regattas, for example, in 2013 he became the champion of the World Canoe and Canoeing Championship among veterans in Italian Turin, finishing first at two hundred meters. In addition, he received bronze for participating in kilometer races [1] .
