Biography
The full name of Abu Yal: Ahmad ibn Ali ibn al-Musanna ibn Yahya ibn Isa ibn Hilal at-Tamimi al-Mawasili ( Arabic .
Abu Yala was born on the 3rd of the month of Shawval in 210 according to the Muslim calendar . He traveled through the Muslim world in search of knowledge, studied with Abu Bakr ibn Abu Sheyba, Ali ibn al-Madini , Yahya ibn Maine and many other ulema of that time. According to Abu Yal, the hadiths were transmitted by al-Nasai , Ibn Hibban , al-Tabarani , Ibn Adi , Ibn al-Sunni and others.
Abu Yala al-Mawasili learned fiqh from the students of Abu Yusuf and was a supporter of the Abkhan Hanifa madhhab .
Al-Mawasili is the author of books on asceticism and good morals, a dictionary of his sheikhs ( mu'jam ). His most famous book is the 13-volume Musnad .
Ismail al-Taimi said:
I read a lot of musnads like Musnad al-Adani, Musnad Ahmad ibn Mani'a, and they were like rivers, and Musnad Abu Yala, like the sea, is the gathering place for all the rivers.
