Creative pedagogical and scientific activity

The sphere of L.V. Makhova's creative interests included: the scientific biography of D.I. Mendeleev and A.P. Borodin , the problems of creating the most functional chemistry room, the organization of student scientific conferences, the compilation and use of a supporting abstract , the creation of a school science museum.

Since studying at the university, L.V. Makhova has been interested in the personality of D.I. Mendeleev . Repeatedly visited the hometowns of the Mendeleev family, as a result of these trips, previously unknown letters from father and mother D.I. Mendeleev [5] were found and transferred to the D.I. Mendeleev Museum-Archive Museum of St. Petersburg State University (the Lyceum Museum No. 344 is stored Photocopies of these letters).

One of the first in the USSR (since 1962 ) began to use supporting abstracts . In 1990, she published a book devoted to this problem, which included 25 supporting abstracts on chemistry developed and presented at open lessons for high schools [6] .

At school No. 344, she created a chemistry cabinet, which was recognized as exemplary and presented in the pavilion "Public Education" at VDNH in 1981 [7] .

The focus of Makhova was the research activities of schoolchildren. She described in detail her experience in organizing student scientific conferences in the article “Scientific-practical conference - the final result of the annual work of the chemical society” [8] .

In 1984, Lyudmila Vasilievna created the Museum of D.I. Mendeleev at school number 344 (it exists today, since 2011 it is called the Museum of Natural Sciences). Stands, exhibits, manuals, models of many industries (for smelting cast iron and steel, production of sulfuric acid, etc.) of the Museum were made with the direct participation of schoolchildren according to the models of Makhova herself. Among other exhibits, the museum includes a collection of rocks and minerals, which consists of more than 300 items [9] .
