Biography

Born on July 13, 1925 in the village of Vasilevka, Ryazhsky District, Ryazan Region . Graduated from 6 classes. He worked as a tractor driver on the Red Ray collective farm.

In the Red Army since January 1943. At the front in World War II from May 1943.

The submachine gunner of the 139th rifle regiment, Junior Sergeant Ignatiev, on April 18, 1944, when breaking through the enemy’s defense on the Turia River, was among the first to break into the enemy’s trench and detonated a machine gun with a grenade with grenades.

On September 21, 1944, while crossing the Western Bug River, he was wounded, but continued to carry out the task.

By order of the commander of the 41st Infantry Division of October 23, 1944, for the courage shown in battles with the enemy, Junior Sergeant Ignatiev was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.

Fighting in the same combat strength, Junior Sergeant Ignatiev distinguished himself on the night of November 7, 1944. Participating in reconnaissance search in the area of ​​the village of Nove, he crossed the Vistula and, observing the enemy’s positions, established a system of enemy trenches, wire fences, the location of pillboxes and bunkers, machine gun points, mortar and artillery batteries. He quietly crawled to the enemy’s dugout, threw grenades at him, hit several opponents, and captured one of them.

By order of the 13th Army of December 17, 1944, Junior Sergeant Ignatiev was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.

When crossing the Oder River, Ignatiev established the location of several firing points, destroyed the enemy mortar with grenades. Bursting among the first in the city of Lebus in street battles, destroyed an enemy machine gun and several opponents. In the battles for the city of Shtorkov, on April 22, 1945, Ignatiev was one of the first to break into houses turned by the enemy into strongholds of defense, eliminated a machine gun with a calculation and twelve enemy soldiers.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 15, 1946, Junior Sergeant Ignatiev Pyotr Vasilievich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree for courage, bravery and heroism.

In 1949, Sergeant Ignatiev was demobilized. He lived in his native village, worked at a horse-breeding station.

He was awarded the Orders of Glory of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree, medals.

He died on September 24, 1981.
