In April 1944, in the battles in the area of the village of Gorodeshnoye-Mazury, Junior Sergeant Solomatin, who was in the mine clearance group, made several passes in his defense under heavy enemy fire. He took off 26 minutes in front of the front edge of the enemy’s defense, then blew up the Bruno spiral and neutralized a few more minutes behind the wire. At the signal of the attack, he first rushed forward, pointing the way to the arrows. During the battle, the junior sergeant with his squad made another pass - in front of the anti-tank ditch, and took off thirty minutes. Solomatin was one of the first to overcome the moat, burst into the headquarters dugout and seized a functioning radio station there. In January 1945, during combat work on preparing passages in minefields and barriers before the offensive, the detachment of Junior Sergeant Solomatin came under machine-gun fire.
