The 2010 Election of the President of Sri Lanka is the sixth presidential election in this country. Upcoming elections were announced on November 23, 2009, when incumbent President Mahinda Rajapaksa decided to hold early elections, although his term expired only in November 2011. Presidential candidates were announced on December 17, 2009, and the elections themselves were held on January 26, 2010.

The incumbent President Rajapakse was nominated from the ruling party, the . The main rival of Rajapakse in this election was the former commander of the country's army, General Sarath Fonsek , who was supported by opposition parties, in particular, the and Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna .
The victory in this election was won by the current president Rajapaksa, who won more than 57% of the vote. Fonsek received more than 40% of the vote, the remaining twenty candidates scored less than 0.5% each.
