Biography
Representative of the Polish magnate family Kostka coat of arms of the Dombrow . The son of the governor of Pomeranian and Helmna Stanislav Kostka ( 1487 - 1555 ) and Elzbieta from Helenberg.
He was educated in Germany, Flanders and Spain. In 1568, Jan Kostka was appointed by the Polish King Sigismund Augustus the head of the Maritime Commission. He was engaged in the organization of the Polish navy. He was a supporter of the union between the Kingdom of Poland and Royal Prussia .
He participated in the signing of acts of the Union of Lublin (1569) and the Warsaw Confederation (1573) .
