About the album

The working title of the album was “Under Rule” [1] . The recording took place in October-December 1993 in the English studios Parr St. Studios ( Liverpool ) and Jacob Studios ( Surrey ). The album was produced and mixed by Pete “Pee Wee Coleman ( Paradise Lost , Theater of Tragedy ) and Colin Richardson ( Carcass , Fear Factory , Cradle of Filth , etc.). The album was released on the label Earache , and distribution under the agreement concluded with Earache engaged in Columbia Records .

Fear, Emptiness, Despair became Napalm Death's most successful album in recognition not only by fans, but also by critics. Not least, this happened due to the inclusion of the track “Twist The Knife (Slowly)” in the soundtrack to the film “ Mortal Kombat ”, which in less than a year received a platinum status [2] . The album Napalm Death for two weeks rose to the 22nd place in the charts of Heatseekers Billboard 200 [3] , also becoming an unprecedented success for the group.
