The station is located in the San Nicholas area a few meters from the Republican Square , which is formed by intersecting Avenue July 9 , Avenida Corrientes and Diagonal Norte . Prospectus July 9 got its name from the date of July 9, 1816 , when the independence of Argentina was proclaimed. Station "July 9" was opened on June 3, 1937 . Initially, it was called “Carlos Pellegrini”, and under the first government of Juan Domingo Peron - “Eva Peron”. In 1997, the station was included in the list of National Historic Monuments [1] .
Station platforms are decorated with 2 murals measuring 15.5 x 1.8 meters. One of the frescoes is based on a 1936 sketch by the artist Alfredo Guido, it depicts the countryside of San Jose de Flores (now the urban area of Flores ) and the city of Lujan in 1835. Another fresco depicts the same area, but already actively used for agricultural production for export in the first decades of the 20th century.
