A referendum on the independence of Turkmenistan - was held on October 26, 1991 . The referendum presented 2 questions:
- Do you agree with the legislative establishment of Turkmenistan as an independent democratic state [1] ?
- Do you support the statement of the President and the Supreme Council of the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic “On the domestic and foreign policy of Turkmenistan” and the practical activities for its implementation?
Both issues were supported by 93% of voters [2] . Voter turnout was 97.4%.
