Biography

Born on May 20, 1913 in the village of Frunzovka, a village in the Frunzovsky district of Odessa region of Ukraine . Ukrainian. Graduated from 5 classes. Worked on a collective farm.

In the Red Army and at the front in World War II since July 1941. The combat path began near Odessa as a reconnaissance gunner, participated in the defense of the city. In October 1941 he was seriously injured. When he regained consciousness, in the village where he was cured, the Germans were already bossing. He remained in the occupied territory until the arrival of the Red Army .

In April 1944, after the liberation of the village, he was again mobilized into the army. He was enlisted as a machine gunner in the 289th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 97th Guards Rifle Division. With this division he liberated Odessa, Tiraspol, Chisinau, forced the Vistula.

On the night of October 31, 1944, Private Sterpool, acting as part of a reconnaissance group, near the village of Yablunytsya Guards, was tasked with destroying the enemy machine gun that prevented the scouts from capturing the “tongue”. He silently crept up to the enemy firing point, with a short machine gun burst hit the Hitler’s machine gun, and then, to distract the enemy’s attention, threw three grenades into the trench. In the meantime, a group of scouts broke into the enemy’s position a little to the right and captured two prisoners.

By order of the commander of the 97th Guards Rifle Division dated November 7, 1944, Private Guard Yerkov Logvinovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.

On the night of November 24, 1944, in the vicinity of the settlement of Kotuszów of the Guard, Private Sterling, acting in the capture group, was the first to burst into the enemy trench, throw grenades at the enemies, grabbed a machine gunner with the help of his comrades and delivered him to the regiment headquarters. In this search, he destroyed five enemy soldiers.

In preparation for the Vistula-Oder operation, the division command needed a well-informed “language” —the officer — to determine the enemy’s defense system. For two days, scouts studied the enemy defenses, chose an object for search. On December 17, at dusk, they crawled to the front line of the enemy. It was drizzling cold rain. Sterpool noticed a group of opponents whom the officer gave the order. Opponents dispersed along the trench. Sterpool immediately jumped into the trench, knocked the officer off his feet and squeezed his mouth. Comrades came to the rescue. Together they twisted the officer, pulled him out of the trench and moved away. For this feat, all scouts were awarded orders and medals.

By order of December 23, 1944, the Guard Private Sterpool Yakov Logvinovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.

On January 27, 1945, while being with the soldiers behind enemy lines in an ambush near the village of Rosenhain, Sterpool participated in the defeat of the enemy convoy. Guardsmen, taking advantage of the darkness, suddenly attacked the opponents, threw grenades at them, shot them at point blank range with machine guns and machine guns. The Nazis left on the battlefield more than fifty corpses, two cars and a tractor tractor. Guard Private Sterpool in this battle destroyed ten opponents.

On April 23, scouts, including Sterpool, were the first in the division to go to the Elbe in the vicinity of Torgau.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 27, 1945 for exceptional courage, bravery and fearlessness shown in battles with enemy invaders at the final stage of the Great Patriotic War , Guard Private Sterlov Yakov Logvinovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree. He became the full holder of the Order of Glory.

In 1945 he was demobilized.

He lived in the city of Kirovsk, Voroshilovgrad region of Ukraine . He worked as a loader in a factory. He died on January 25, 1972.

He was awarded the Order of Glory of 3 degrees, medals, including "For Courage".
