Biography
He was born on September 26, 1909 in the village of Viktorovka in the Berezansky district of the Nikolaev region . Ukrainian. Secondary education. He was one of the innovators of collective farm construction, the chairman of the collective farm in his native village. He was elected a delegate to the II All-Union Congress of Collective Farmers-Drummers in 1935. Before the war, he worked as the head of the regional communications office.
In August 1941 he was drafted into the Red Army . In early September, during the fighting in the Kakhovka area, he received a shell shock and was hospitalized in the city of Genichesk. Three days later, the city was occupied by opponents, and local residents took the wounded soldiers out of the hospital and placed them at their place. Three months later, having healed, Dobrov moved to his native village. Participated in underground work, was arrested by the Nazis, fled from prison. Until the liberation of the Nikolaev region by Soviet troops, he was underground.
In May 1944, Dobrova was again drafted into the army and enlisted in the 178th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 58th Guards Rifle Division. With this regiment went to victory. In the very first battles of the guard, the Red Army soldier Dobrov proved himself a skilled and courageous warrior, he soon became a junior sergeant and was appointed commander of the rifle division.
On August 9-12, 1944, the regiment fought fierce battles to expand the bridgehead on the left bank of the Vistula River near the towns of Ratae and Zhabets, 36 km north of the city of Tarnow. After powerful artillery and aviation training, the first to attack were the fighters led by the Guard, Junior Sergeant Dobrov. Having burst into the enemy trench, they entrenched in it and held their positions for three days, repelling several counterattacks of the opponents. When reinforcements approached the guards, about three dozen corpses of opponents lay in front of the position that the Dobrov’s detachment was defending.
By order of the commander of the 58th Guards Rifle Division of August 25, 1944, Junior Sergeant Dobrov Ivan Petrovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.
On January 24, 1945, on the left bank of the Oder River under the village of Eisenau, in a tense battle, when a counterattack by an enemy guard was repelled, Junior Sergeant Dobrov destroyed twelve opponents.
By an order of March 24, 1945, Junior Sergeant Dobrov Ivan Petrovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.
At dawn on April 16, under cover of powerful artillery fire and a smoke screen, the advanced battalions of the 5th Guards Army began to force the Neisse River near the village of Jemlitz, 7 km north-east of the Weisswasser station. When a significant part of the assault bridge was carried away by the current, the guardsmen swam across the river. Having got ashore, Dobrov was the first to burst into the enemy trench and, in hand-to-hand combat, destroyed thirteen opponents. All attempts by the Nazis to throw Soviet soldiers off the coastal patch of land failed. The guards held the bridgehead until the main forces of the regiment approached. During the subsequent offensive, the guards went to the Elbe River, and in the area of the city of Torgau they met with the first unit of the American army.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 27, 1945, for the exceptional courage, courage and fearlessness shown in battles with enemy invaders at the final stage of the Great Patriotic War , of the Guard, Junior Sergeant Dobrov Ivan Petrovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree. He became the full holder of the Order of Glory.
In September 1945 he was demobilized and returned to his homeland. He worked as the foreman of the oil mill of the Berezansky district food factory. He died on July 30, 1975.
He was awarded the Order of Glory of 3 degrees, medals.
