Biography

Born on September 9, 1917 in the village of the Ulen copper mine in the Shirinsky district of the Republic of Khakassia. He graduated from 4 classes and tractor driver courses. He worked as a tractor driver in the village of Bolshye Syry, Balakhta district, Krasnoyarsk Territory . In 1937-1940 he served in the Red Army , served in the border troops on the Far Eastern border.

In September 1941, he was again drafted into the army, and again sent to the Far Eastern border. At the outpost, he became one of the best ranger-border guards, so I was always refused a request to let go to the front.

Only at the end of 1942 was he sent to the front and enlisted in divisional reconnaissance of the 33rd Guards Rifle Division , operating as part of the Stalingrad Front. Participated in the defeat of the Kotelnikovsky enemy group, liberated Rostov. In the first battles he proved himself to be a brave and at the same time prudent and prudent warrior and earned two medals “For Courage” and a medal “For the Defense of Stalingrad”.

Later he fought on the South, 4th Ukrainian and 1st Baltic fronts. On April 8, 1944, the troops of the 4th Ukrainian Front, which included the 33rd Guards Rifle Division, began to liberate the Crimea, and the enemy’s defense at Perekop was broken for three days.

On the night of April 11 of the guard, the Red Army Knysh, acting as part of the head guard, was the first to break into the outskirts of the village of Aktash, Dzhankoy district, Crimea). In battle, he destroyed eleven enemy soldiers. Scouts defeated the garrison, captured the village and held it until the main forces of the division approached.

By order of the commander of the 33rd Guards Division of April 21, 1944, the Red Army Knysh Yakov Antonovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.

In May 1944, the Red Army guard Knysh, as part of the same company, participated in the battles for the liberation of Sevastopol. Conducting reconnaissance, at the head of the squad penetrated the enemy rear, went to the North Bay on the outskirts of the city. Having started a battle on the shore of the bay, the scouts caused panic in the camp of the enemy. The main forces of the division were not slow to take advantage of this and on the same night went to the bay. In street battles, Knysh personally exterminated about 15 fascists, captured 5 vehicles with ammunition and equipment.

By order of the troops of the 2nd Guards Army of June 3, 1944, the Red Army soldier Knysh Yakov Antonovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.

After the liberation of Crimea and a short rest, the division was transferred to the 1st Baltic Front . After regrouping, on July 20, 1944, the front forces launched an offensive in the Šiauliai direction. During the fighting, the 33rd Guards Rifle Division counterattacked the enemy.

On July 30, on the right bank of the Shushva River in the vicinity of the Grinkishi settlement, northeast of the town of Raseiniai, the Nazis managed to break through to the division headquarters and surround it. The assistant to the platoon guard commander, Senior Sergeant Knysh, together with the platoon, took up a circular defense, and repelled 5 enemy attacks. Personally destroyed up to 15 opponents.

In the same area, participated in the pursuit of broken enemy units. In the area of ​​the town of Grinkishki, having destroyed the enemy communications officer, he seized valuable documents that allowed the command to reveal the enemy’s plan.

In battles in the area south of the Konigsberg Guard, Senior Sergeant Knysch was badly wounded, for the fifth time in the war. Eighteen wounds were counted by doctors on his body. After a long treatment in the hospital at the end of 1945 he was demobilized.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for the exceptional courage, bravery and fearlessness shown in battles with enemy invaders, the senior sergeant Knysh Yakov Antonovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree. He became the full holder of the Order of Glory.

Returning to his homeland, he graduated from the school of drivers and worked for several years in the auto industry of the city of Uzhur in the Krasnoyarsk Territory . But the old wounds affected. He became seriously ill and died on August 4, 1961.

He was awarded the orders of the Red Star , Glory of 3 degrees, medals, including "For Courage".
