Biography

Born on October 18, 1924 in a village of Novinki, Kalinkovichi district, Gomel region of Belarus, in a peasant family. Byelorussian. He graduated from 7 classes. He worked as a tractor driver.

In the Red Army since November 1943. In the battles of World War II from May 1944. He fought on the 2nd and 3rd Ukrainian fronts. He distinguished himself during his liberation from opponents of Romania, Czechoslovakia , and Austria.

The driver of the tank of the 46th separate tank regiment, senior sergeant Ivan Timoshenko, September 12-23, 1944, near the Romanian city of Turda, skillfully maneuvered and, as part of the tank crew, destroyed a disguised enemy gun in a battle for height 597.

By order of the 9th Guards Mechanized Corps dated November 6, 1944, Sergeant Tymoshenko Ivan Arkhipovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree for courage and bravery shown in battle.

The driver of the tank of the 85th Guards Tank Regiment of the Guard, Senior Sergeant Ivan Tymoshenko, on December 16, 1944, north-west of the Czechoslovak city of Stepy, covered the mine deminers of two bridges, and as part of the crew destroyed an enemy machine gun, nine opponents, and three carts with military equipment.

By order of the 9th Guards Mechanized Corps dated February 16, 1945, Sergeant Tymoshenko Ivan Arkhipovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree for courage and bravery shown in guard battles.

On March 30, 1945, the driver of the guard tank, senior sergeant Ivan Tymoshenko, as part of the troops of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, was the first to burst in a military vehicle into the Austrian village of Wisma. In the battle for the Austrian city of Vineraoneoistadt, in mountainous and wooded areas, he destroyed up to ten enemy soldiers and seized a warehouse with faustpatrons. He was wounded, but remained in service.

On May 16, 1945, the commander of the troops of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, Marshal of the Soviet Union F.I. Tolbukhin signed a submission for awarding Ivan Timoshenko with the Order of Glory of the 1st degree.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 29, 1945, for the exemplary performance of command assignments in battles with German-enemy invaders of the guard, Senior Sergeant Timoshenko Ivan Arkhipovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree, becoming the full holder of the Order of Glory.

After the war he continued to serve in the army. Member of the CPSU since 1962. Since February 1970, Lieutenant Colonel I. Tymoshenko in stock.

He lived in the city of Krivoy Rog, Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine. He worked at the Krivorozhstal plant. He died on February 12, 1999 in Krivoy Rog.
