Presidency
In the early 1960s, the military seized power in Ecuador. However, under pressure from the international community, they were forced to withdraw from power in March 1966, and on March 29, power was transferred to the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ecuador, General Telmo Vargas. The latter held this post for several hours and handed over the presidency to the then lawful president of the country, Clement Jerovi .
