Biography
Vladimir Yakovlev was born on April 19 ( May 2 ), 1903 . In 1928, he graduated from Moscow State Technical University named after N.E. Bauman , after which he worked as a leading designer in the US . In 1929 - 1930, Yakovlev worked as deputy chief designer A. A. Mikulin for the development of the M-34 aircraft engine. In 1930 - 1941, he held the position of chief designer of TsIAM named after P. I. Baranov [1] . Candidate of Technical Sciences .
In the postwar period, Yakovlev led a number of design enterprises in Moscow and Leningrad , including the Zvezda plant. He made a great contribution to the development of the Soviet aircraft engine industry [1] . He died on September 20, 1983, was buried in the cemetery in memory of the victims on January 9 in St. Petersburg [1] .
