Biography

Born in Revel in the family of Baron Gustav Reingold von Stackelberg and Julia Charlotte von Berg

  • 1837 - Graduated from the Marine Corps , enlisted in the Baltic Fleet. In 1844-1845 he served on the brig "Polinur". In the years 1847-1848 on the ship "Vladimir" and the frigate "Tsesarevich" cruised in the German and Baltic Seas. In the years 1850-1853 on the ship "Katzbach" cruised in the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland.

Apr 19 1853 promoted to lieutenant commander .

  • 1853-1856 - Participated in the Eastern War. In 1854, on the ship "Grand Duke Michael" participated in the defense of Kronstadt. On June 6, 1855, in command of a detachment of 4 rowing gunboats, he participated in a shootout at the mouth of the Narova with an English detachment consisting of 2 battleships and 2 steam gunboats and, for distinction, was awarded the Order of St. Anna of the II degree with swords.
