Club career
Mbombo began his career at the football school of the Anderlecht club. Very soon, he left the academy and in a few years replaced the youth teams of Brussels and Mechelen , eventually remaining in Liège 's Standard . On December 12, 2013, in the Europa League match against the Swedish Elfsborg , Mombo made his debut for the team from Liège [2] . In the same match, he scored his first goal on a professional level. On March 16, 2014, in a match against Vasland-Beveren , Yannis made his debut in the Jupe League , replacing Igor De Camargo in the second half [3] . In 2014, he helped the club take second place in the championship. On August 2 of that year, in a duel against Kortrijk , Mbombo scored his first goal for Standard in the Belgian championship [4] .
In the summer of 2014, Giannis on a rental basis moved to the French Auxerre . September 15, in a match against the Troyes , he made his debut in League 2 [5] . In the same match Mbombo made a double, scoring his first goals for Auxerre.
In the summer of 2015, Giannis on a leasehold joined Saint-Truiden . On July 24, in a match against Brugge , he made his debut for a new team [6] . On August 1, in a match against Moscron-Peruwels, Mbombo scored his first goal for St. Truiden [7] . At the beginning of 2016, Yannis was rented by Sochaux . On February 2, in his match against Creteil , he made his debut for a new club [8] . On February 12, in a duel against Dijon , Mbombo scored his first goal for Sochaux [9] .
In early 2017, Giannis as a free agent joined the Swedish Örebro . On April 3, in his match against Jönköping Södra , he made his debut in the Allsvenskan League [10] . In the summer of the same year, Mbombo returned to Belgium, becoming a player at the Muskron-Peruwels . On July 30, in his match against Ostend , he made his debut for a new team [11] .
