Biography

Alexander Podolyako was born on April 23, 1918 in the village of Kuliki (now the territory of the Minsk region ). In 1936, he graduated from the factory apprenticeship school in Minsk , after which he worked on the construction of the Orsha Flax Mill. He participated in the battles of the Great Patriotic War , including in the defense of Leningrad, where he was wounded twice. After graduation, he continued to serve in the Soviet Army, was discharged as a captain in 1957 [1] .

Since 1958, Podolyako worked as a grinder at the Minsk Mechanical Plant named after S. I. Vavilov. He managed to achieve high performance in the work, completing the eighth five-year plan in three and a half years, and the ninth on 461 days ahead of time. Podolyako was one of the first in his shop began to work with a personal stigma. He was the author of several rationalization proposals, which made it possible to significantly improve the processing of parts [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1971, Alexander Podolyako was awarded the high title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Sickle and Hammer medal [1] .

He died on June 3, 1978, and was buried in the Eastern Cemetery of Minsk [1] .
