Evgeny Kozhuhar was born on May 3, 1920 in the village of Stariye Burigi (now the Porkhov district of the Pskov region ). After graduating from high school, he worked on a collective farm . Studied at Kiev State University. In May 1941, Kozhukhar was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since September of that year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He was wounded three times in battles [1] .

By October 1944, Sergeant Yevgeny Kozhukhar commanded mortar calculations of the battery of 120 mm mortars of the 550th Infantry Regiment of the 126th Infantry Division of the 54th Infantry Corps of the 43rd Army of the 3rd Belorussian Front . On October 21, 1944, in a battle near the village of Poghegen (now Pagegyai ), the calculation of Kozhuhar destroyed 2 firing points and 13 enemy soldiers. November 3, 1944 Kozhukhar was awarded the Order of Glory 3rd degree [1] .

On February 2, 1945, in battles in the area of ​​the settlements of Jaugenen and Zortenen in East Prussia, Kozhuhar’s calculation successfully repelled 7 German counterattacks, destroying 8 firing points and more than 20 enemy soldiers and officers, as well as suppressing the fire of 4 mortar and 1 artillery batteries. April 7, 1945 Kozhuhar was awarded the Order of Glory 2nd degree [1] .

On April 7, 1945, in the battles for Konigsberg Fort No. 5, Kozhuhar destroyed 3 machine-gun points and about 35 enemy soldiers and officers with his mortar fire, and also suppressed the fire of two mortar batteries. The next day, Kozhuhar and his comrades destroyed 3 more vehicles and about 25 enemy soldiers and officers. On April 24, 1945 he was awarded the second Order of Glory of the 2nd degree, only on August 19, 1955 was re-awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree [1] .

In May 1946, in the rank of foreman, Kozhuhar was demobilized, later he was awarded the rank of senior lieutenant of the reserve. He lived and worked in Minsk . In 1956 he graduated from Belarusian State University . Tragically died on October 16, 1960 , buried in the Eastern cemetery of Minsk [1] .

He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and a number of medals [1] .
