Throne Hall of Ananda Samakh

Ananta Samakhom Martinp1.jpg

Ananda Samakhom - one of the buildings of the royal residence of Dusit in Thailand . It used to be a throne and reception hall, now it is a museum, but it is sometimes used to hold any ceremonies associated with the royal dynasty (Constitution Day, coronation of the crown prince, celebrations on the occasion of the birth of the heir, and so on). The residence building has two floors and a large dome in the center with a height of 49.5 m. The length of the building is 112.5 m [1] .

Construction of the building began in 1906 by order of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), but was only completed in 1915, when the king had already died (his heir Vachiravud issued a separate decree on the mandatory continuation of construction). The construction budget was 15 million baht. The architects of the building were Mario Tamanyo and Annibale Rigotti, observing from the Siamese (as Thailand was then called) side - Yama Chao; Italian Carrara marble was used as the main building material, the building was built in the style of the Italian Neo-Renaissance with elements of neoclassicism [2] . The internal walls of the building and the ceiling of the dome are painted with frescoes by Galileo Cini and Carlo Ridzhuli, which depict various scenes from the history of the Chakri dynasty - from Rama I (Buddha Yodf Chulaloke), the first King of Siam who made a successful trip to Cambodia, to Rama VI (i.e. then ascended the throne of Vachiravudha). During the 1932 revolution, the building served as the headquarters of the People's Party.
